Volunteers, students to unite to revamp area

A "Wayne Brief" mentions that as many as 1,000 community volunteers, including Wayne State University students, will gather April 1 to demolish abandoned homes, plant trees, paint murals, landscape and spruce up the outsides of public buildings in the Brightmoor and Mexicantown areas. The daylong cleanup is the last in a year-round series of efforts, including tutoring, called the Detroit Project.
